Photo editing and retouching

During the next weeks we'll work in editing photographs.

We'll basically use two programs: Gimp and Photoshop.

Digital Audio - Audacity

Audacity is a program to edit digital audio. We can record, edit and change digital audio files in different formats.

We can create our own recordings and add multiple effects. We can also import audio files in WAV, AIFF, AU, etc.. formats.

Activities with Audacity - Activity 1

We are going to do some easy activities to learn things about Audacity.

Download the following files:

Poetry

We have to hear the poem with the background music. Use the tool "envolvente" to control the volume of the background music. Cut the music if necessary and export the file as a mp3. Upload the file to Divshare and embed it in a post in your blog.

Cloud storage terms of service

You can choose where do you want your files to be storaged. Nowadays, there are some options, such as Dropbox, Box.com, SkyDrive, Amazon CloudDrive, iCloud, Cubby or Google Drive.

But be careful! Dont't forget that everything is shared in this 'cloud'.

Once that you have finished the activities, save them as an Audacity proyect and export them as mp3. Upload them to your DivShare account and embed them in one post of your blog.

Activities with Audacity - Activity 3

Today we are going to make a musical scale, with the option "Generar tono".

The musical scale is: do - re - mi - fa - sol - la - si - do

Each note has its tone, each tone has its frequency. These are the frequencies for each note (in Hertzs):

Do (261,6) - Re (293,7) - Mi (329,6) - Fa (349,2)  - Sol (392,0) - La (440) - Si (493,9) - Do (523,2).

For each note you have to create a tone one second long, followed by a silence one second long. Create each tone in a different track.

When you finish, save the project and export is as mp3. Then you have to answer the following form:

In this post you will find 20 audio files, 10 men and 10 women.

You will have to guess who is talking on each audio file and answer the form below.

Advice: Pay attention to what they say!!! Some words can be clues to find out who is talking....

Take a look at the bank of sounds of INTEF. You have 400 different sounds. Listen and download some of them. Upload them to your DivShare account and make a game similar to GWIT.


Then you'll have to record your own sounds, in order to create our own bank of sounds.

Today you have to decode an audio file. Download audio file.

You have to try to guess who is talking and restore the voice to the original.

Then you have to upload this file to your Divshare account, create a post on your blog and embed the audio file.
